Top Bottom. I tried too, the sound is brighter, raw "genuine" , just like reported here. I have hooked my Kukama back into the system while using Audirvana and not achieved the same sound quality, so I wonder if its a limitation in the music program. Unread post by Fretless » Wed Mar 03, am.

It looks like this. This way you are investing in original quality audio files. Just like any other audio format, DSD files also use a three-character extension. DSD files come in either a. At NativeDSD. DXD DoP is just a transport protocol.

The stream remains pure DSD. That is what you say because you have no other solution to all your failures, but you know that it is not so. This has absolutely no effect on sound quality and the transfer is bit-perfect. This is indeed first world audio problem. I suspect a glitch between Audirvana and my DAC somehow.

Exactly why I asked Declaration to post the Audirvana screen shots so we can compare the settings. I use standard settings not something exiting , if your DAC cant Play dsd, audirvana will convert it Byte the fly to pcm.

Audirvana playes native dsd Mind sharing a screen shot of your settings? Sorry you ment upsampling, no i use it nativ. Why do you think upsampling can add any digital bits that aren't in the file that will somehow give you more?

Allo Boss uses PCM I tried too, the sound is brighter, raw "genuine" , just like reported here. Even Volumio is reporting it as DSD although it doesn't say what it does with it.

I'll see what it does with those. I really have no interest in purchasing DSD files either. In fact I never bought any SACDs when I finally had a player that could play them, by then they were going away and the one or two stores I knew that sold them only had a few left.

I'll continue to play with the Audirvana settings to see what sounds good to me, but so far this was the best. I always left higher bitrates to play natively.

The problem with iFi iDSD is that it is a portable unit that doesn't have RCA out, just headphone, and my silver cables won't work with it without an adapter. It just wouldn't be apples to apples, plus I never liked the iFi anyway. I'll try it anyway. I tried the iFi vs. I'm not sure I could say the silver cables made any difference either. It wasn't any kind of scientific test for sure but it was all I could do in a spare half hour.

I had to switch the upsampling at the computer in the next room that runs Audirvana but I could switch the DAC using my phone via Volumio sitting in the same position and use the remote selector on the pre-amp. I tried to keep volume the same but wasn't measuring and just using my ear. At least this is the result I expected once I did a test. You are always hearing something "better" when you change something, but when you are swapping back and forth sometimes it isn't so obvious.

Some say they can't hear a difference between redbook and hi-res. Some said they couldn't hear a difference between MP3 and CD too. Maybe a higher-end DAC would produce different results, but I'm not so sure on that either. I won't get to try as I don't have anything truly high-end.
